ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND YOU: PERFECT TOGETHER? Once little more than science fiction, products based on artificial intelligence (AI) are now part of our daily lives. Many of those products—automobiles and medical devices to name a few— use “machine learning”, which enables the software in the product to “learn” and “adapt” to user behavior as additional data is collected. But what are the liability implications for a product manufacturer when AI fails? How is defect defined and established? How does the regulation (or lack thereof) of AI impact the analysis? This panel will address an emerging liability questions for AI and propose practical risk reduction strategies to address them.
