ProAssurance Announces Medmarc Leadership Changes

February 11, 2016

ProAssurance Corporation announced today that Chief Financial Officer Edward (Ned) L. Rand, Jr. will assume the additional duties of President of Medmarc, effective March 1, 2016, replacing Mary Todd Peterson, who announced her retirement earlier this year. ProAssurance also announced that Karen Murphy, J.D. will be named Executive Vice-President of Medmarc and Head of Life Sciences for ProAssurance. She will report directly to Ned and will be responsible for ensuring Medmarc’s continued success in the medical device and life sciences line of business.

Ned has been involved intimately with the merger of Medmarc into ProAssurance. Working with Mary Todd and her team, he has ensured the full and fruitful integration of Medmarc into the ProAssurance family of companies.

Karen has been an integral part of Medmarc’s success since joining the company in 1995. Beginning in 2001, she served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. Her role expanded in 2007 when she assumed leadership for the Loss Control function. Karen was given further responsibility for Medmarc’s Claims and Marketing Departments in 2010 and most recently served as the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Risk Services.

W. Stancil Starnes, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ProAssurance Corporation, said that he is “confident that Ned and Karen will build on the impressive legacy forged by Mary Todd Peterson.”
